Refinishing of tub.

Not all tubs are candidates for the
Restore option. Color changes are
obviously going to be refinished and
tubs that are just to far gone.

If you are having the tiled walls replaced
above the tub do this first.

A bathtub alone can be refinished in approximately
5 hours, and it can be used again 24 hours after
completion. We also can refinish the tile above the
tub and around the room. This seals the grout as
well which helps eliminate mold and mildew.

I put  masking around the areas to be protected and,
using an HVLP system, there is a minimal amount of
overspray.

Fumes from this process are exhausted out a
window and I set up a air purifier outside of the
bathroom to help with any residual odors that may
escape the bathroom. I don't know of any other
refinisher that does this.

There are two schools of thought on how to correctly refinish a ceramic surface.

School of thought #1, and this is probably the method you've seen in your research, is to acid 'etch' the ceramic surface.

This etching compound that is widely used is a very strong, and rather dangerous hydrofluoric acid solution that is brushed on and
left to sit on the surface of for 5 to 10 minutes.  This solution is not good for anyone involved, not for me, for the homeowner, the
surrounding fixtures, or even possibly the drain pipes.  It literally EATS the glaze, the shine that's on the tub and tile, off to expose
the more porous ceramic underneath.  That exposed ceramic enables a 'Physical' bond with the primers that are applied.  That's
school of thought number one.

School of thought number #2 is to leave the glaze alone, thoroughly clean the surface with various cleaners and then wipe on a
chemical covalent bond with the surface...  Then the topcoat material is applied over the bonding agent.

Both methods work great and last a long time, I know because I've used them both.  But through my years of experience, I've come
to realize that if one works great, and the other works great... why not use them both.... so that's what WE do.  We use both
methods...and we use them both every time.

Our methods work something like this.  Rather than use that dangerous and rather toxic hydrofluoric acid, we've found a greener
and much more environmentally friendly acid solution to use.  This safer acid solution thoroughly cleans the surface of your ceramic,
removing any debris and residue that may have accumulated... and at the same time etches the surface.  Now rather than
completely eat away the glaze, it simply opens the pores in the glaze to enable that physical bond.  Following that, we paper and
tape everything within 2 feet of your fixtures... the tile walls, the floor, the walls outside the tub, any commodes or vanities that may
be close by... it all gets completely covered in paper and tape.  Next we wipe on two coats of that 'bonding agent' we spoke of.  So
with our methods, you get the best of both worlds... the physical, AND the chemical bond.  All this really means is that with us you
are guaranteeing a long life to the refinishing work that we're going to give you.  After that we give you 3 coats of our high gloss
acrylic urethane coating.

SAFETY STEP - TUB TO SHOWER CONVERSION

The Safeway Step

Convert your bathtub into a walk-in shower. A safer entry into your
bathtub/shower area has never been easier.

Bathtub Rx, LLC offers one of the most accessible bathroom renovations to
date. We make access into the tub area easier than you could ever imagine,
and yet it's affordable at the same time.

The Safeway Step is installed using the present tub, whether it's made of
fiberglass, steel or even cast iron.

The Safeway Step aids the senior and the caregiver by removing their biggest
barrier in the tub area. On most tubs, the accessible entry is only about four or
five inches high, providing easier access for the elderly or disabled.

Water drains properly, and in many cases the existing shower curtain can still
be used because the step-up is about two inches (2") above the inside
tub-floor. In some cases the curtain may need to be lowered or a longer
shower curtain can be purchased.

Installation takes less than one full day.
